MISSION

BOOST MARIN provides music and recording classes to a diverse range of youth aged 12-18 that would not otherwise have access to such opportunities. This is, in part, an attempt to offset funding cuts to public schools' arts programs, but also because we believe that our innovative method inspires skills and confidence in young people by teaching them what they want to learn in a way that motivates them to succeed. Boost has a major emphasis on engaging students outside of their current comfort level and establishing an I-can-do-anything mind set.

BOOST MARIN is a non-profit organization founded and operated by Scott Llamas at his studio in central San Rafael. Scott is an accomplished recording artist, music producer and multi-instrumentalist who has helped many kids and young adults develop as musicians, recording engineers, producers, and as individuals by turning good habits into positive results. Young artists and producers whom Scott have helped develop have: been featured on commercial radio and network television, won an MTV 2 Music Award, been awarded 3 Grammies, earned a platinum record and, most of all, grown as individuals.

Classes

BOOST MARIN classes motivate young musicians and aspiring recording engineers by giving them the opportunity to select skill-appropriate projects that excite them to learn. Students are further motivated to work together, and as individuals, to build great results by knowing that they are creating a professional, studio-quality recording to enjoy. Whether a student is interested in music seriously or just for fun, BOOST is a great fit to help young people get excited about strengthening and broadening their skills.

Classes are 3-hours and typically include 6 students aged 12 -18. Students are informed in advance of the material so they can be prepared to work together to perfect and record one song. Classes include instruments (if needed), instruction, and a professional recording. The recording, along with pictures and video, will be posted to a link to share with friends and family.
